This stunning landscape painting by renowned Aboriginal artist Reggie Sultan beautifully captures the colours and formations of the many ranges, hills, gorges, and native flora of his traditional country in the Barrow Creek area, west of Alice Springs in Central Australia. Rich in cultural meaning, the work reflects the unique natural beauty of the region, showcasing deep blues and purples of distant ranges, vibrant earthy tones of desert sand, and striking contrasts when native flora is in bloom.
Born in Alice Springs in 1955, Reggie draws inspiration from the landscapes and cultural heritage of his mother’s country around Barrow Creek and Neutral Junction Station. Influenced by the Hermannsburg school, he blends traditional Aboriginal symbols with personal bush experiences, using rich ochres and natural colours on black canvas. His work often tells stories of hunting, gathering bush tucker, and Aboriginal life, offering collectors authentic Indigenous art that connects deeply to country, culture, and the traditions of Central Australia.
