Linda Garnarradj is a highly respected Kunwinjku artist and master weaver from Oenpelli (Gunbalanya) in West Arnhem Land, NT. Coming from a long line of strong cultural women, Linda continues the tradition of weaving using natural materials sourced from Country—such as pandanus palm leaves, which she strips, dyes with local plant roots and berries, and weaves entirely by hand.
Her woven works include dilly bags (burraj), mats, baskets, and fish traps, each carrying deep cultural significance and practical use. Every piece tells a story, grounded in ancestral knowledge, seasonal practices, and her intimate relationship with the land.
Linda's weaving not only showcases incredible skill and patience, but also helps preserve traditional methods passed down through generations. Her work is both functional and deeply spiritual, often reflecting themes of connection to land, kinship, and survival.
She is widely respected in her community for her commitment to keeping Kunwinjku culture strong, and her pieces have been exhibited and collected throughout the Northern Territory and beyond.
